Tracking Code2030-987Job Description

 General Summary

6DOF Model Developer

COLSA Corporation is seeking candidates for an experienced aerospace engineer with the capability to develop full 6DOF simulations to join the MDA Targets IV&V Team at the Software Engineering Directorate (SED) in Huntsville, AL.

About Our Team

Members of SEDs Targets IV&V Team provides the Missile Defense Agency’s Targets Directorate with Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) of the flight software for all MDA’s Strategic Targets. Using actual flight software running on a processor-in-the loop configuration, we verify and validate that the target will meet the designated mission profile. This small team of engineers and scientists has both the challenges and rewards of providing valuable “go/no-go” inputs to flight test with both national and international implications.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll be supporting the US Army Software Engineering Directorate’s Targets IV&V Team. Principal duties will be to develop, maintain, and update Six Degrees of Freedom (6DOF) missile models. These models are an integral part of the lab’s All-Digital-Simulation (ADS) and the Processor-In-the-Loop (PIL) test bed capability. Real-time coordination with other members in other disciplines is the key to overall success of the mission. This is a true engineering job and as such, experience with most, if not all, of the following are key: Simulations, High fidelity modeling architectures, Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC), Autopilots, Control Theory, Flight Control Systems (stability analysis), Frequency Analysis, and Aerodynamics.

You’ll be conducting engineering analysis, reading and interpreting software specifications, interface specifications, system specifications, and performance specifications. You’ll provide support in configuration managed software environment, support internal and external meetings, have a great deal of customer interaction, and frequently engage in team coordination and cooperation. You’ll be involved in requirements analysis, assist with the review of developer and customer requirements documents, assist in the development of IV&V requirements traceability matrix and you’ll conduct analysis of test data results for purpose of preparing IV&V data review and final report.
