COLSA Corporation is seeking an entry-level Benefits Specialist to support its Corporate Human Resources office in Huntsville, AL. This position will perform various duties in the Benefits Department at the direction of the Benefits Manager. Major responsibilities include: wellness program coordinator of events such as health fairs, biometric screenings, lunch & learns and primary contact for the wellness vendors; managing compliance related correspondence for the department (required HIPAA, COBRA, 401(k) and other notices); processing routine 401(k) documents (beneficiary forms, etc.); data entry of employee information into the company's benefits administration system; advise employees on company’s disability policy and FMLA with preparation of related documents; reconciling bills between insurance provider and company reports; liaise with employees and carriers on routine benefits questions; assist with preparation for and administration of annual open enrollment. 

Selected candidate will work in an environment where ability to maintain confidential information within the compliance guidelines of ERISA, PPACA, et. al. is paramount.  Overtime may be required during periods of heavy activity such as health & benefit events, annual open enrollment and contract transitions.  Proven ability to work well with others and communicate with different people such as employees, managers, and vendors on varied and somewhat complex benefits and medical issues.

Required Experience

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or related field or equivalent experience

* Working knowledge of desktop applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and database programs (Microsoft Word and Excel)

Preferred Qualifications

* 1-3 years of related experience in human resources, specifically with benefits and/or wellness programs

* Experience with Deltek, Time and Expense or other Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) preferred
