Engineer 9 - ERC - (607)


The engineer performs activities/tasks associated with planning and project management for the transition, implementation, and integration of missile/ammunition demilitarization capabilities.  Tasks may include but are not limited to the following:  perform technical engineering reviews for varying levels of capability design packages, perform programmatic reviews for program/project efforts and proposals, provide input for facility construction, maintenance, and implementation packages for demilitarization capabilities, facilitate/coordinate integration requirements for demilitarization capabilities, review/provide recommendations for start-up and long term operations for energetics demilitarization facilities and perform other duties as required for transitioning demilitarization capabilities  Participates as a team member to support scientist and engineers in the area of research and development on missile maintenance, stockpile reliability and demilitarization.  Participates as a team member to positively influence and enhance the safety and quality of the team.


Certification requirements/desired:


  • Ammunition & Explosives certification for observers (desired)


Experience required/desired:


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience required in the area of ammunition and explosives
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience required in program/project management
  • Specific experience with demilitarization of munitions, and reverse engineering/disassembly of munitions items desired
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, interpret/review program schedules, develop/review program cost estimates, and translate program requirements into test/program plans and procedures
