System Administrator, Junior Level

Candidate will support System Administration and Information Assurance (IA) duties for the Ground-based Midcourse Defense System's IV&V lab for their ground components.  The selected candidate will be responsible for working with a team of senior SA staff performing duties such as user support, software installation, network cabling, system builds and troubleshooting, IA support and documentation, inventory support, system relocation, and physical management of hardware. Primary technologies for this position are Microsoft Windows family and Linux variants. Information Assurance responsibilities include supporting regular systems scans, settings verification, and compiling supporting documentation to maintain proof of compliance. The team operates in a structured environment requiring regular and consistent documentation of activities and procedures with engineering standards applied to all activities such as configuration management, cable plant organization and asset tracking.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential functions)

* Analyzes system designs for a variety of applications *

* Analyzes procedures and systems to refine their formulation and converts them to programmable formats *

* Responsible for obtaining user information to conduct analysis when problems occur *

* Develops system specifications to convert to programming language *

* Prepares routine logic flow charts on basic systems *

* May prepare record layouts that are detailed in nature from provided specifications

* May conduct form designs and layouts

Required Experience

Required Qualifications

* Associate’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience required (4 years of experience may be substituted for degree)

* Minimum of two years’ work related experience in Information Technology areas, including user support, server and workstation operations, and maintenance (total of 6 years of related experience required if no degree)

* Candidate must have an active Microsoft Windows Operating System certification and be familiar with Windows server and workstation operating systems and Active Directory

* Candidate must have a current CompTIA Security+ CE certification

* Candidate must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

* Due to the sensitive nature of work we perform for the US Government, US Citizenship is required

* Candidate must be a self-starter, be detail-oriented, have strong written and verbal communication skills, and work well with others

* Candidate must demonstrate technical proficiency in windows hardware and software troubleshooting, repair, and fresh installations

* Candidate must perform regular documentation activities

Preferred Qualifications

* Working knowledge of patching linux-variant operating systems

* Working knowledge of TCP/IP, switching, and routing principles

* Experience with switching, routing, backup technology, cisco IOS, fault tolerance, virtual machines a plus
