Ground-based Midcourse Defense System (GMD) IV&V Lab Manager/Architect

The GMD IV&V Lab is seeking a mid-level to upper-level candidate in support of the Software Engineering Directorate. The chosen candidate will be tasked with overseeing and coordinating the daily tasks associated with the GM IV&V Lab and all of its personnel, hardware, software, and security standards. The candidate will plan and implement laboratory policies, perform hardware integration tasks, introduce new capabilities, and assist lab users with troubleshooting. The candidate should have the ability to perform equipment integration and maintenance, have a strong understanding of computer networking, a strong understanding of system administration, a strong understanding of computer hardware components, and a strong understanding of DoD Security practices. The candidate will also be responsible for validating and maintaining Configuration Management documentation in support of Information Assurance certification and accreditation activities. The candidate should have prior experience working in a DoD laboratory environment, have sound judgment, and be able operate with minimal supervision. The candidate will conduct daily duties at the Software Engineering Directorate (SED), Redstone Arsenal. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Responsible for developing and applying advanced techniques in the investigation and solution of advanced system requirements and problem

* Plans, conducts and technically directs projects or major phases of significant projects

* Coordinates efforts of technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects

* Conducts technical investigations and tests of considerable complexity

* Reviews completion and implementation of system additions and/or enhancements and makes recommendations to management

* Evaluate vendor capabilities to provide required products or services

* Provide technical consultation to other Indicium PO teams

* Provide work leadership to lab personnel

* Identify system engineering requirements from customer goals and objectives

Required Experience

Required Qualifications:

·         Bachelor's degree in related field such as information systems, engineering (8 years of related experience may be substituted for degree)

·         Minimum of five years system design experience, including hardware/software integration (total of 13 years of related experience required if no degree)

·         Strong Systems Engineering principles and troubleshooting experience

·         Strong Information Technology (IT) principles and troubleshooting experience

·         Strong DoD Security practice and implementation knowledge

·         Ability to work with little or no supervision

·         Ability to obtain certifications (Security+ CE AND either a Microsoft OS or Cisco certification) within 6 months of hire

·         Active DoD Secret Security Clearance

* Due to the sensitive nature of work we perform for the US Government, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications: 

·         Master's degree in related field such as information systems, or engineering

·         Current Microsoft OS or Cisco Certifications

·         Familiarity with operating and maintaining a Microsoft Domain

·         Knowledge of the overall Ground Based Midcourse system and the associated hardware.
