Marketing and Communications Director

 

SUMMARY:

 

The Marketing & Communications Director is the Chamber’s liaison to the media and is responsible for external marketing and communications strategies, public information, brand management, image development, and developing promotional programs to support the Chamber’s role in economic development.

 

The Director serves as the chief social media strategist and digital content marketing manager for all Chamber community relations and external communication assets, Executive Editor and Content Manager for the bi-monthly Initiatives magazine, and manages a strategic and purposeful flow of communications to over 2,000 highly engaged Chamber members to help expand our sphere of influence in this community and beyond.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following.

 

  1. Manage a three-person department and college interns;
  2. Responsible for coordinating the Chamber’s various communication efforts to ensure that they reflect the Chamber’s philosophy and messages;
  3. Serve as brand manager for all Chamber related assets and activities;
  4. Prepare scripts, presentations, marketing materials, fact sheets, media advisories and releases and other communications tools for Chamber news and events;
  5. Utilize social media and digital communications strategies. Manage all social media and digital communications platforms to help promote members, Chamber events, workforce and announcements;
  6. Coordinate content and production of Initiatives magazine, Initiatives Online, and other Chamber publications;
  7. Collaborate with webmaster and graphic designer to develop and update content on Chamber websites;
  8. Compile and coordinate distribution of Chamber member news including the Monday Mash-up, Member Connection, CRP Connect, A Smart Place membership collateral and other marketing assets;
  9. Coordinate marketing and communications strategies for ChamberON, HREGI, special events and economic development;
  10. Develop and implement external strategies to engage members and key community stakeholders;
  11. When directed and approved by CEO, provide image or media consultation to members;
  12. Prepare and administer department budget as well as oversight and execution of challenging and sensitive assignments and projects;
  13. Develop cooperative working relationships  with media and key image stakeholders to increase the level of interest in Chamber activities;
  14. Manage all contracts with publishing companies, advertising companies, marketing agencies and other vendors involved in development of the chamber’s print, video and digital assets;
  15. Work collaboratively with department heads/staff on advertising and promotional communications projects, including print, electronic, special events, and direct mail;
  16. Function as executive producer of film, videotape, and web projects;
  17. Analyze, interpret, and comply with government rules and regulations.
  18. Develop a marketing and communications business plan that will serve as a living document—to update annually or more often as required;
  19. Establish working relationship with the vice-chair for image development, part of the Chamber’s Executive Committee;
  20. Understand importance of Chamber mission.
  21. Other duties and responsibilities as may be directed by the President/CEO.
