General Summary

The System Analyst is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of physical and virtual computing systems. Responsibilities include ensuring stability and viability of a 24/7 mission-critical production environment and participating in an on-call rotation with the other team members.  It is essential to work closely with other team members and the customer. Rack, build, cable, configure, and provision hardware from various vendors.  Analyzes local and wide area network systems, including planning, designing, evaluating, and selecting operating systems and protocol suites.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential functions)

* Analyzes local and wide area network systems including the planning, designing, evaluating, and selecting operating systems and protocol suites *

* Configures communication media with routers, switches, firewalls, and other devices *

* Resolves interoperability problems to obtain operations across all platforms *

* Configures systems to user environment *

* Assists in the configuring and managing of network monitoring appliances and applications, such as IDS, Spam/Malware, and Anti-Virus Protection Systems *

* May assist in the support acquisition of hardware and software, as well as, subcontractor services as needed *

* Troubleshoot, test, quality assurance of server hardware *

* Professionally resolve hardware issue via trouble ticket *

* Create tickets within the ticketing system to address problems, incidents and changes of hardware *

* Using spreadsheets to analyze, manipulate and display data related to IT Hardware Maintenance, Trouble Tickers and Circuits *

* Provide accurate and detailed logs within the ticketing and messaging systems for system alerts, as well as for communication and escalation steps taken to ensure prompt resolution of supported equipment, processes, and teams *

* Install, test, and label cable and fiber using standard data center protocols *

* Linux and Windows system administration *

* Administering heavily virtualized environments on different platforms *

* Managing data protection and backup infrastructure and procedures *

* Monitoring infrastructure and services *

* Configuration management and automation *

* Operating System patching and upgrades *

* Infrastructure capacity planning *

* Managing disaster recovery operations *

* Familiarity with information security and system security concepts and implementation *

* Data center management, on-site and remote sites *

* Troubleshooting various issues in local and remote environments *

 

Required Experience

Required Qualifications

* Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required. May use related experience in lieu of education.

* Minimum of two years’ work related experience

* Working knowledge of desktop applications including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs

* Working knowledge of current systems and applications.

* Working knowledge of current high level computer languages

* May require security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in related field

* Experience with any of the following is a significant plus:

  • Excel
  • Windows and Linux administrations skills
  • ESX and VMWare virtualization technologies
  • Windows Powershell and/or Linux shell scripting 
  • RedHat OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker
  • Ansible
  • Cloud or Hyperconverged platforms
