Systems Analyst – Advanced Concepts Office - AS0001MN

Responsibilities:

 

The Systems Analyst shall support the MSFC Advanced Concepts Office technical activities by participating in:

 

  • Systems Analysis: Tasks shall include analysis for launch vehicles, spacecraft, and exploration surface systems related to potential future NASA projects and space exploration mission architectures. This could include vehicle performance analysis, transportation architecture trade studies, requirements definition and integrated mission and system analyses, conceptual design analysis including subsystem design analysis.
  • Mission Analysis: Tasks shall include Earth-to orbit and in-space trajectory analysis, mission profile definition, and analysis of in-space environments. 
  • Concept Definition: Tasks shall include ground rules and assumptions definition, vehicle configuration design, vehicle interface requirements, vehicle supporting equipment, and subsystem components such as primary/secondary structures, power and avionics subsystem analysis and design, payload accommodations analysis, and system mass estimates.
  • Systems Engineering: Tasks shall include requirements analysis and definition, technology analysis and development planning, evaluation of alternative technical approaches, performance specifications of space exploration transportations systems and mission elements, mission and systems operations analysis, and cost-performance trade-off analysis.

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D., a Masters with at least 2 years of experience, or a BS with at least 6 years of experience.  Degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution. 

 

Strong interpersonal skills to enable successful performance in a collaborative engineering environment are required. Desire and ability to rapidly learn how to successfully apply knowledge and experience to timely completion of excellent products and services are required.

 


Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word) is required. Programming in Python and/or JMP is highly desirable. Experience working on a project team would be a plus.

 

Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
