Responsibilities:

 

Provide support to the SLS Payload Integration Project in the areas of systems engineering.

 

This support includes, but is not limited to, the following:

 

  • Develop the SPIO ISPE Standalone Sensor and Telemetry Document, which defines and controls ISPE operational, engineering, and developmental standalone sensor measurements and the Operational Flight Instrumentation (OFI) and Development Flight Instrumentation (DFI) telemetry being downlinked from the Interim Cryogenic Propulsion Stage (ICPS)
  • Develop and maintain a SPIE ISPE Instrumentation Program and Command List (IPCL) Status reports or presentations will be presented or delivered, as needed or requested by the DLE and ES13 Team Lead
  • Support the Avionics Discipline Lead and providing expertise for the integration of the Interim Cryogenic Propulsion Stage (ICPS) avionics and software with other SLS elements. Specific tasks include:

 

  1. Development of the ICPS to Ground Systems Development and Operations (GSDO) emulator specification;
  2. Review Change Request (CR) for SLS SPIE input accuracy;
  3. Moderate meetings associated with ICPS/GSDO emulator;
  4. Facilitate quarterly Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM);
  5. Attend and participate in scheduled SPIE ICPS meetings.

 

Qualifications:

 

Degree in Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited university is required. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D. with a minimum of 8 years of experience, a Masters with at least 10 years of experience, or a BS with at least 12 years of experience.

 

The successful candidate must have experience with programmatic planning, monitoring, and control of efforts associated with system design and hardware production.

 

- Knowledge of complex systems engineering life cycle end-to-end development ranging from requirements development, functional design, hardware integration, requirement verification, and flight readiness that ultimately lead to flight hardware certification is required.

 

- The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience developing and delivering executive level briefings, will have negotiation skills demonstrated through complex technical problem solving, and will have a demonstrated ability to breakdown complex problems or issues into manageable pieces.

 

- Hands-on experience with the physical integration of payloads for the Shuttle, the International Space Station (ISS), or other launch vehicles as well as the documentation associated with this integration is highly desired.

 

- Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, customer relation skills, and presentation skills are required.

 

- Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook) are required 

 

- An understanding and knowledge of the current SLS program is desired.

 

Personnel are required to be self-motivated, effective team players familiar with working in a dynamic work environment who are willing to assume a Systems Integration role in this SLS systems design and definition effort.
