General Summary

Assists in the design, development, troubleshooting and analysis of software programs for computer based systems.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential functions)

* Assist in monitoring data system behavior and web application(s) performance/function, including server configuration.

* Design and develop software using basic compilers, assemblers, utility programs and operating systems.

* Integrate and test software components and tools.

* Develop new utility tools and existing tool enhancements as identified.

* Use expertise in XML data handling and processing and also relational database usage.

* Interact with data customers, helping to ensure the locating and retrieving of data is successful.

* Interact with government agencies as required to facilitate data contributions into data system.

* May plan, conduct and technically direct projects or major phases of significant projects.

* May conduct investigations and tests of considerable complexity.

* Reviews literature, patents & current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.

* May review the completion and implementation of technical products.

* May evaluate vendor capabilities to provide required products or services.

* Assists in designing and developing software programs *

* Assists in analyzing user's software program needs and assists in troubleshooting

* Assists in the design and development of software using basic compilers, assemblers, utility programs and operating systems

* May advise hardware design engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems

* May provide input for documentation of new or existing programs

Required Experience

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or other related field.

* Minimum of 0-8 years of applicable software design engineering experience

* Working knowledge of current operating systems and programming languages

* Ability to use desktop applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs

* Valid Top Secret Clearance with immediate eligibility for DIA SCI Access

* Ability to pass a Counter Intelligence (CI) Polygraph after hire

* Ability to obtain and maintain CompTIA Security+ CE after hire

Preferred Qualifications

* Familiarity with following areas of technology: MS Visual Studio .Net web and application development, Java, XML data processing, SQL Server/MySQL/MarkLogic databases, SQL and MarkLogic XQuery database querying, Mercurial, Perl, PHP, UNIX and Windows servers

* CompTIA Security+ CE

* Valid TS/SCI Clearance

* Current CI Polygraph
